Modern Jane: Kitchen and White painted floor {Inspired DIY}

One of the best and most memorable bloggy friend renovations of 2011 is Modern Janes Kitchen, White painted floors.
The number one reason why I love this space so much? (besides awesome floors)

I could imagine my husband sitting on the window bench seat talking to me whilst I cook.... or me sitting whilst he cooks (that's how we roll) if we don't cook together the other person is always sitting nearby chatting about our day.

Congratulations Jane what a great project. For a detailed how to go here.

I could stare at the fabulous black and white ikat roman blinds forever (Great Choice).

Wedding dress code: “Races”

We attended a friends wedding over the weekend with the dress code “Races”, how fabulous is that? all the ladies wore wonderful dresses and fascinators and the men weren’t too confused either suit, shirt, tie and shoes.

I had a dry-cleaning dress dilemma when packing the car the night before (a dress I was planning on wearing that was dry-cleaned three months ago and now features rust stains I didn’t even think to check).

I did a quick power shop for a new outfit (under one hour) I went to Alannah hill and scored this beautiful dress and fascinator on SALE!.

More on the features of this super cute and creative wedding to come!.

Did you have a fabulous weekend?

The Roadside Find…{DIY}

A little while ago I gave you a sneak peek of a little something in the back of our Car.

After leaving dinner with some friends late one night my husband with his keen roadside find eye “drawers” I yell “Go back!” under the dark of night we quietly inspected the fabulous find with minimal light, I said “Castors, get this thing into the car!”.

The very next day I ripped off the mirror hold and attacked this beauty with my electric sander.

After: I think it's rustic imperfect charm fits well within our eclectic apartment and , I love the raw wood finish.

Here is a better photo of one of my favourite prints from Driftwood Interiors

I put the old entertainment unit on Gumtree, It was sold and picked up within the day for $60….. It was bought it on Ebay for $20 four years ago, got to be happy with that!

A bad photo of the old TV Unit:

Bali...{Wedding}

We spent our  New Years holiday in Bali, celebrating my cousins wedding  at Karma Jimbaran

The wedding was absolutely breathtaking an arbor adorned with white roses and greenery greeted guests at the end of the thick flower petal isle, the Bride looked absolutely stunning her hair was swept to one side and pinned with orchards. The photos really do speak for themselves.

(The above photos are credit to the more professional photographer/ friends at the wedding)

The Reception flowers were also amazing, I was trying to figure out how I could walk out with them all under one arm.

A super thoughtful bonbonniere with our names also doubled as a placeholder, these beauties will definitely be going up pride of place on our Christmas tree 2012.

Congratulations, may your lives together be full of love and laughter.

To my surprise the stunning Jessica Stein of the (super famous) blog "Tuula" is friends of the Bride’s family, it seams you can’t go many places these days without running into another fabulous blogger.

London Inspired Christmas Table {DIY}

I received a message from a very dear friend living in London…It read along the lines of “Sam please help me with some Christmas table Inspiration {or rather Instructions}”.

With the theme "London" in mind {having never been there} however It seams like a town rich in history and literature mixed with an eclectic modern vibe I "shopped the home" for a few items to help me create two London looks:

Basic table setup
Linen tablecloth (Ikea)
Table Runner (Ikea)
Plate chargers (I used black)
White dinner plates
Wine glasses

Modern British Table – Option 1
Paper doily (Dollar store) used as coasters
White Christmas tree (dollar store)
White pot (Ikea) to put dollar store Christmas tree into
Mirror ball Tree ornament - These make great take home gifts for your guests (A memory of the occasion)
Black and white twine to tie around napkin (like a gift)

Vintage London Table – Option 2
1 x vintage book
vintage napkins (I got a set of 8 vintage napkins from the thrift store 50c each)
Various vintage candle holders, brass, glass, white
Clay tag Tree ornaments - These make great take home gifts for your guests (A memory of the occasion)
Scrap of paper for place cards

Vintage books are hilarious and rather inexpensive, I bought this one for $1 from an antique shop

The December 2011 Issue of Real living Magazine also has some great table setting inspiration

I am seriously lusting over that gold cutlery set....

Have a gorgeous London Christmas Al!
